AnalytiXagility is a cloud based Digital Research Environment, sold as a Service to hospitals, universities and pharmaceutical companies. It comprises multiple services which work together to make research on healthcare data more secure and effective. The product owner ensures that, through the technical roadmap, those services are delivered with the right features and technology.

The product owner is responsible for managing requirements for Aridhia products and services. The senior management need product strategy to be translated into detailed requirements and designs. Every product needs a technical evangelist who can integrate conflicting requirements into a successful service that many users benefit from and enjoy using. A Product Owner is ideally placed to take that role.

The role requires a blend of technical, commercial and communication skills to work successfully with different groups of users, explaining and developing the services as they evolve.

Responsibilities

The product owner works closely with our clients, partners and delivery and enablement teams to guide AnalytiXagility products from conception to service launch. As part of the Innovation team, they bridge the technical and business and service worlds as you design services that our customers require.

  • The product owner is accountable for the current and future state of the Aridhia’s AnalytiXagility platform and services
  • Works day-to-day and report to the CTO to align product management to company strategy
  • Responsible for maintenance and timely completeness of the product roadmap documentation including managing online services such as JIRA and Confluence used for that purpose
  • Works day-to-day with delivery team (dev, QC, ops) in a product owner role (as adapted from the Agile Scrum methodology).
  • The product owner is responsible for:
    • Making good decisions on service features
    • Clearly documenting requirements in backlog
    • Backlog refinement, prioritisation and ensuring the availability of the backlog
    • Documenting acceptance criteria
    • Triage of inbound issues from inside or outside the organisation
    • Ensuring the delivery team understands requirements and implements what the company requires and customers expect
    • Attending development stand ups other delivery meetings such as retrospectives and demos
    • Writing customer-facing release notes
    • Demonstrating the software to customers
    • Annual documentation of R&D activity for tax purposes
  • Works day-to-day with customer enablement and customer service teams to adapt the products and services to the needs of customers and help respond to queries and concerns
  • Implements an outreach programme to ensure end-user feedback is incorporated in the roadmap
  • Works day-to-day with Aridhia hosting and service partners to ensure they maximise their return from investing in the Aridhia platform
  • Keeps up to date with Aridhia’s market and competition as well as environment, technology and security changes that could impact or improve the product
  • Attends and advises the Aridhia security review board

In addition:

  • As required, work on specific customer bids and tenders
  • As required, work on specific customer projects in a project management role
  • Drive the adoption of a DevOps and other efficiencies in the service deliver model
  • Develop the reference architecture for Aridhia’s products with software engineers and technical architects in the delivery team
  • Communicates with a wider public about the Aridhia platform and roadmap including participating at conferences, writing blog posts and other social media.
  • Develops mockups and prototypes of new features
  • The product owner’s performance is assessed regularly by the CTO based on
    • Successful delivery of service releases
    • Quality of the services
    • Ability to work with delivery team on scope
    • Impact on revenue
    • Ability to work with stakeholders inside and outside the company
    • Creative input and enthusiasm for Aridhia’s services and business model
  • As required, the product owner will meet regularly with the CTO and other members of the team to discuss performance issues and resolve any issues arising.
  • Feedback from managers in the delivery team and enablement team will be used to assess performance

Essential

  • Leadership skills with a strong personal definition of product owner role, tasks and responsibilities
  • A proven ability to capture and rationalise diverse customer and end user requirements, including their aspirations and goals, with the ability to be an effective advocate for them
  • Understanding of cloud-based business models including SaaS and PaaS
  • Ability to estimate effort, cost and value of feature development within an R&D budget and negotiate resource for delivery
  • Ability to negotiate and maintain partner and supplier relationships
  • A track record of delivering web-based products and services ideally in a field related to biomedical research and analytics
  • Deep knowledge of technical aspects of product development to ensure competitive advantage and effective delivery
  • Demonstrable understanding of business models and operational environments to make good day-to-day decisions

Desirable

  • Understanding of information governance, privacy and security related to personal data and the use of cloud services, with the ability to communicate this to stakeholders
  • Knowledge of technical components of cloud platforms including Azure
  • Understanding of the biomedical research and analytics market and its long-term trends including healthcare, academic and pharmaceutical environments, with the ability to communicate this to stakeholders
  • A university degree in a numerate, technical or scientific field
  • Informatics and information architecture
  • Founded a startup, taken a new product to market
  • User experience (UX) design and documentation
  • Software architecture and design and documentation
  • Project management qualifications
  • Security certifications
  • Previous experience of managing agile software engineering teams
  • Previous experience of directly selling software services
  • Previous responsibility for budgets
