Standardised Architecture for Trusted Research Environments (SATRE) is a DARE UK driver project to support the development of a secure reference architecture for Trusted Research Environments (TRE), allowing research teams to benchmark their own TRE against an open specification.
Aridhia was an early adopter of the specification, and the first commercial TRE provider to score itself against it in 2024, and we rescored our platform in 2025. This blog series details our rescore for 2026, covering each section of SATRE in turn.
In this blog we’ll cover our score for the Information Governance section of SATRE.
In SATRE, Information Governance is largely defined in non-technical terms.
The specification does include some technical controls a TRE under this section, but it primarily focuses on the TRE providers duty to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, provide appropriate training materials, and have well defined policies and procedures in place for auditing the platform and risk management.
In 2025 we scored the DRE at 78 out of 80 for this section, and provided the following reasons for this score:
We added one additional point to our Information Governance score this year as we have now automated our quality management tasks, this brings our score to 79 out of 80. In addition we continue to annually certify the DRE against a number of recognised international standards including ISO27001 and HITRUST. We have continued to develop our Tenant Analytics, providing users with more insight than ever before into how the platform is being used, and we are constantly updating and developing our training materials to ensure they are as user friendly as possible.
