Office document support inside your workspace
Workspaces now supports Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) natively in the DRE. Users can keep these documents in thier preferred, familiar format for working with the rest of your DRE data. With Workspaces 4.0, you can now edit these documents. Word, Excel, CSVs and more can now be opened and edited in a workspace app. Documents can be collaboratively worked on by multiple people at once and updated in near real time.
Offline LLM framework
Aira is the secure LLM framework embedded in the Aridhia Digital Research Environment, engineered to give healthcare researchers unparalleled control over sensitive data, uncompromising performance, and seamless integration. Users can ask questions of the AI assistant, run scheduled jobs and use AI to boost their research power. Aira’s offline models are key to maintaining security boundaries and protecting sensitive research data.
Available for Premium SaaS users and available on request on all other platforms.
Execute long-running jobs and keep working
For a long time, the DRE supported the execution of long-running jobs in a workspace VM. Users can now execute some of these jobs directly in their workspace. R or Python scripts can be kicked off using a simple click and will run on the workspace infrastructure. Processes will run in the background so you can leave your long-running jobs while you work on other things; Output is automatically saved in your workspace files for when you’re ready to come back to it.
Developer-style flexible layout UI
Having a flexible layout has been a goal of ours for a long time; it’s now a reality. Users can drag tabs side by side and look at multiple tabs at the same time. They can be resized and layered on top of each other into more practical configurations. This is really useful when wanting to look at diagrams beside scripts or data beside its original flat format. It also allows for simultaneous interaction with Aira for code generation.
Lock your workspace access to specific trusted networks
This new Workspaces feature allows administrators to lock a workspace down so that it can only be accessed from a particular IP address or range of addresses, as an enhanced safeguard. This meets additional security requirements for the sharing and accessing of PII data. Users can now use PII data from FAIR in one of these workspaces, where it can be accessed and researched from only an approved location.
SACRO Output Checking
Aridhia have recently proven the use of the ACRO output checker and associated SACRO app; learn about this more in our blog. The library can be used to assign data a risk score, and this can then be viewed in the SACRO app by anyone reviewing a requested download or removal of data from the secure DRE.
Return data to FAIR
Aridhia have produced an app which can be distributed in workspaces to aid the curation of data with the aim of returning it to FAIR Data Services. The FAIR Publisher app guides the user through the process of returning their data to the DRE’s Fair Data Services. This process helps the curation of new datasets which can then be securely researched and shared with other groups.
Geofenced FAIR dataset support for enhanced data security
Support for geographically restricted datasets, ensuring FAIR datasets can only be used in workspaces that meet that dataset’s geographical Data Use Conditions. For example, preventing a dataset from restricted to a region within the EU being used in a workspace outside of that region.
App Container Registry
The new App Container Registry allows Aridhia’s customers to deploy containerised apps or compute to selected workspaces within their DRE. Administrators can upload apps which have been containerised and select which workspaces these are accessible from. Within the workspace, the apps can be run by the members against their secure data. Dockerised analytics can also be distributed alongside data to speed up understanding and analysis.
Reviewer Role
A new role has been released to the Workspaces profile which enables data reviewers to be onboarded to the platform. The “Reviewer” role can be assigned to new or existing workspace users and limits their interaction to read-only. Reviewers can become members of a workspace where they can look at data and output such as reports or graphs. They can make comments in the activity feed but are not able to change or update any data or files.
Reviewers can be provided with the facility to approve airlocks.
Seamless Database Creation
Datasets from FAIR convert seamlessly to databases in the Workspaces, including all type metadata optional schema details, provided during the DAR process. Enhanced database creation wizard with type checking and metadata editing.
